_
It was the last day of exams. After this, We had transfiguration, then I would be free of my moody, studying, boring, former self. Sirius and I had gotten into another fight, and still hadn't made up with each other, so I was glad that I was near the middle of the hall, while he was in a corner. I was quickly writing down what I needed for the defense against dark arts O.W.Ls.
When I finished, I stretched, and looked around. The boy to my left, Jeffery, looked up in surprise, then mouthed,
"Are you done?"
"Yep."
"Give me the answers!"
" Nope."
"Please?" He asked, putting his hands together in a pleading manner. I shook my head, and he gave me a look. I returned the look, and he threw a scrap of parchment at me. We had a little war, till we both started snorting with laughter. Then, we quickly turned to our parchment as Professor Flitwick walked past. We glanced at each other, and grinned before turning back to our papers as Professor Flitwick walked between our rows again. I then glanced over a Sirius, who was stretched out, and watching the whole exchanged between Jeffery and I with a look of dislike and anger. Our eyes met, but I looked away. If he thought I was flirting, who was I to mess with his imagination?
When it was time to leave, I quickly put everything in my bag, and I immediately found Lily and some other girls I was friends with. We all walked outside towards the lake. I looked back, and saw the marauders sitting by the tree we usually sit by. For a moment, I was tempted to go over there, but decided to stay with my friends, for the sake of interacting with other girls. We sat at the edge of the lake, our feet cooling in the water, while talking about others and our exams.
"Jess, if I were you, I'd keep a close eye on Sirius. I saw Ashley Trains making goo-goo eyes at him, and I heard that she was going to ask him out." Lindsay Eners said.
"I'll keep that in mind." I said, looking over at Ashley, who was hanging around a group of boys, but she was indeed looking over at Sirius. I looked at Sirius, who just so happened to be looking towards me. I grinned, my face turning a little pink from how intense he was watching me, before turning away.
Everything was calm, for about, three minutes, till I heard someone say,
"Expelliarmus!" I turned just in time to see Severus's wand fly in the air, then fall with a thud. Sirius laughed.
"Why!" I thought in my head.
"Inpedimenta!" Sirius said. Severus was knocked off his feet. They taunted him a little, people laughing. Severus tried making a threat, but Sirius snapped back. Then, Severus said words I would never use, and James said a spell, making bubbles foam out of his mouth.
"Lily!" I finally said, not being able to take it any more, and she took one look, and bolted.
I'm not going to describe the whole thing, because I find it horrible, but after Lily left, the boys continued. By then, I was past the point of holding on. I stood up, and marched right over to them. They were to involved with Severus to pay attention, but the bystanders saw me, and knew just what I was capable of, so they backed up.
"Expelliarmus!" I said, knocking James's wand out of his hand. I quickly swished my wand, saving Severus from a neck-breaking fall. Sirius turned to me, and yelled,
"Expelliarmus!" At me. I was in shock, but was able to dodge the spell.
"Inpedimenta!" I screamed, anger taking over. Sirius practically wiped out from the power of the spell.
"What the hell!?" He roared at me, starting to sit up, my wand still pointed at him.
"How dare you two! How dare you two mess with him! How dare you upset Lily!" I screamed.
"If you didn't notice, Snivilleus was the one that said--" James started.
"Because of you messing with him, you angered Lily into coming over here! He was angry, and just yelled out something he most likely didn't mean!" I screamed.
"If you care about him so much, why don't you date him?" Sirius asked suddenly, catching me by surprise. Without thinking, I said,
"By the way things are going, Sirius, I just might!" I said, before quickly walking over to Severus, grabbing him by the arm, and quickly walking him to the hospital wing.
When we got there, I handed him over, then put my head on the nearest bed, and started crying.
