2 Years Later
I just got a cab to the King Cross station. I was really excited to see all my friends. I mean, I hadn’t seen them since the end of the school year, at the beginning of the summer. We had been posting each other, but we hadn’t seen each other. I know that they would probably be surprised by how much I’ve changed. My body was almost fully developed, my hair longer, I grew a couple inches taller, you could even tell that my teeth were straighter.
When I got to the train station, it was raining hard. I paid the driver, got a trolley, and started heading for platform 9. I got through the barrier and immediately saw Lily and Severus.
“LILY!!!!” I yelled.
“JESS!!!!” She yelled back. We both ran to each other and gave each other giant hugs. I even gave a hug to Severus. Hey, a friend of Lily’s is a friend of mine. We all talked, then we got on the train.
“I’ll see you guys later.” I said.
“See ya’!” Lily said.
“Bye.” Severus said. I started walking around, looking for the marauders. While walking, kids (mostly boys) would stick their heads out and say hi. Just when I was about to just find a empty compartment, someone grabbed me from behind and pulled me into a compartment. I looked and saw the smiling faces of James, Remus, and Peter.
“Sirius! Let go! Your crushing my ribs!” I said, gasping for air. He laughed and plopped me on the bench Lupin and Peter were sitting on.
“So Jess,” Sirius said, sitting across from me. “How was your summer?”
“Um…. Good, I guess.” I said. This was a little weird, because usually, his first question would be ‘What did you bring from New York?’
“Anything changed while you were away?” He asked. I noticed that he was looking at my chest as he asked this.
“Nope. Same as always.” I said.
“Are you sure?” James asked, also looking at my chest. I glared at him.
“I’m sure. Why?” I asked.
“It’s just… you look different.” He said.
“How was your summer?” I asked, wanting to change the subject.
“Oh, you know. Swimming, Hanging out with Sirius, Flirting, Posting you, Playing Quidditch-”
“Not doing your homework?” I asked. He just shrugged. I shook my head. I had learned the hard way that doing my homework will keep me out of less trouble then what I get in already. “How about you, Remus?”
“I was just reading, sometimes swimming, doing my homework, and staying out of trouble.” He said.
“See. You guys need to act more like Remus and I.” I said, putting a arm around his shoulder and leaning on him, making him blush. I had always liked Remus. Not like, like him, just respected him. I mean, he rarely got in trouble, even though he was in the marauders. He and Lily were the only people I could tell my secrets and emotions to. I saw James roll his eyes, and Sirius give Remus a jealous look.
“How was your summer Peter?” I asked. Peter was timid, but around me, he was happy.
“I-I Just stayed a-at h-h-home and did most of my homework.” He stuttered out. I grinned, then turned to Sirius.
“I can’t believe I’m asking this, but Sirius, how was your summer?” I asked.
“Well, I didn’t do any homework, of course. I went swimming, posted you guys, flirted, and got lucky. Twice.” He said.
“Awesome!” James said.
“That is disgusting, Sirius!” I said, completely shocked.
“Yeah, to a girl virgin. But to a boy virgin , it’s amazing. What was it like?” James asked. Sirius got into a very detailed explanation. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I yelled
“Sirius! Stop talking! That’s so fvcking disgusting! Your fifteen years old!” I said. He looked surprised, then a smirk came on his face.
“Somebody’s jealous.” He said.
“I’m not jealous. It’s just nasty. Talk about it on your own time.” I said.
“You know you wish you were one of the girls. Just admit it.” He said. “It might happen to you this year.” I punched him in the shoulder. “OWW!!! You got stronger!” He said, rubbing his shoulder.
“Yeah. Don’t talk about things like that…. At least not in front of me. Got it?” I said. Sirius smirked.
“Or what?” I raised my fist, and Sirius cringed. “Okay! Okay!” I know, mean. But, he doesn’t get things unless you threaten him with things that would actually hurt.
“And while I’m in my bossing mood,” I said. They all looked up. “Stop looking at my chest, James and Sirius!!” They both looked surprised.
“How did you even see that?!” James asked.
“You guys could’ve made it less obvious.” I sighed. They both exchanged a look and grinned.
“You still haven’t told us what you did this summer.” Sirius said. My face turned pink.
“Oh! Um… I-I didn’t do anything important.” I said. I actually got into some trouble, but I wasn’t going to tell them. I was one of their role models.
“We told you everything we did. You tell us what ‘nothing’ is exactly.” James said. I frowned, then thought of the ultimate prank.
“I just, you know, went swimming, stayed at Queens. My mom and Step-dad are okay. I’m going back to Latrisses’ , my cousin opened up as shop. Hey! I brought some things from New York.” But they were all staring at me like I just slapped them.
“You- your going back to Latrisses’?” James choked out.
“Yeah.” I said quietly.
“And it never dawned on you to tell us this earlier?” Lupin said.
“I didn’t want to say anything.” I said, looking down.
“Uh.. James? Can I talk to you for a second?” Sirius said. James and Sirius stepped out, and I turned to Lupin and Peter.
“Okay. I’m not going back to that hell hole. It’s a prank, to get them back for their end of the year prank.” I said quickly and quietly. I could still remember that horrible sunburn I had gotten from their prank.
“Oh! Thank god.” Lupin said.
“You guys got to play along though, okay?” They both nodded. Just then, the boys walked in with sober looks on their faces.
Sirius’s POV
“I’m going back to Latrisses’,” At that, I blanked out.
‘What the hell does she mean she’s going back? She can’t go back!’ I thought frantically.
“Uh.. James? Can I talk to you for a second?” I said. James followed me outside.
“We have to make sure she doesn’t leave.” I said.
“Exactly what I was thinking.” He said, looking worried.
“But, how exactly are we going to do that?” He asked.
“We’ll show her all the good things at Hogwarts, write letters to her mum, we’ll tie her down if we have to.” I said. James nodded his head. We both agreed on our plan, and walked in. I sat back down and just looked at Jess.
“What?” She asked, sounding annoyed, making me grin.
“I can’t believe that your going back to that place. You said that it was nothing but hell there for you.” I said.
“Well, I want to be closer to my mom. She gets sick easily, you know.” She said with a worried look on her face.
“Oh.” James said.
“But you do now that Dumbledore would send you off in a heartbeat for your mum?” I said.
“Yeah,” She said, looking a little distressed. “But he could never send me fast enough if she was on her deathbed. Latrisses’ is only a block away.” We were loosing her. We had to make up something, fast.
“When are you leaving?” I asked.
“Oh, in about, two weeks.” She said, looking down. My eyes widened.
“Two weeks?! How in the hell are we going to convince her in two weeks?!” I thought frantically. Me and James exchanged looks, then looked back at Jess, who was still looking down.
“Well, until then, we all are going to have a great time.” James said. I nodded in approval, and she grinned at us, with some weird spark in her eyes.
