A week later, and I was more like myself then I was in Hogwarts. I laughed way to much for someone who was supposed to be deeply depressed. I ate like, well, like I always ate. I talked way to much, and played super pranks on everyone. Also, I spent more time with Max then I had planned on. We did practically everything together.
One day, while walking around a small part of Queens, Max stopped suddenly in front of a small fountain.
"What?" I asked.
"This is where we irst actually like, talked to each other." He said. I screwed up my face, and suddenly had a flashback of to kids hiding behind their mother's legs, poking their heads around to get a small look at each other for a moment.
"Oh yeah! You were weird back then." I said, thinking how strange it is that he would remeber that so clearly.
"I was weird?" He said, ruffling my hair and casually putting his arm around my waist. We continued walking, till I stopped, remebering something.
"Now what?" Max asked. I walked over, stooped down, and picked up a colorful flat stone. Slowly flipping it over, not sure if there would be bugs, I saw Max's name in big letters, and mine in small letters.
"I can't believe it," I said. "This is the rock we sighned in 3rd grade!" He stooped down to look.
"Well, what do ya know?" He said, flipping the rock over in his hand. I went to pick the rock up out of his hand, but he suddenly closed his fingers around mine.
"Let go." I said, laughing a little as I shook out hands. I looked up to see Max looking at me with a crooked grin that sent a rush through me. "What?" I asked. Shaking his head, he leaned down, and lightly pecked my lips. An amazing rush went through me.
I looked at Max with wide eyes to see he still had a crooked smile on his face. Raising my eyebrow aat him, I cautiously asked, "What.... made you do that?" In response, he shrugged, and carassed my face. Then, he put his finger under my chin, raised my head a little bit, and kissed me for real.
To explain it all, it was.... thrilling beyond words. All I know is that one second, we were looking at an old rock. The next, we were making out, my fingers tangled in his hair. When we pulled away, I took deep breaths to slow down my heart. He laughed, sounding both excited and blown away.
"That. Was. Amazing." He finally said. Blushing, I looked down.
"What's wrong?" He asked, clearly past the awkward stage.
"It's just... I can't believe I just did that! I mean, you're my best friend! My almost brother! My-" I didn't finish, because he had smashed his lips to mine again, and all the air had been knocked out of me.
This time, when we pulled away, I was the one laughing breathlessly, feeling bubbly and faint.
"I see what you mean." I said after cathcing my breath. He laughed, and wrapped his arm around my waist, and we walked back to our homes. The walk was silent, and I took that time to process everything. 2 hours ago, we were just best friends. 10 minutes ago, we were making out. What are we now? Best friends with benefits?
"Uh, Max? Are we like... boyfriend girlfriend now?" I asked. He turned to me, a wide smile on his face.
"Unless you don't wanna be, yeah." He said. I grinned, and gave him a hug before leaving to my house.
At 10 o' clock that night, I heard a light tap on my window. Bleary eyed, I walked over to the window, opened it, and was scooped up in the air. I gasped, and laughed.
"I forgot something." Max said. Before I could ask, he had sat me down, and pulled out a jade bracelet. "I was supposed to give this to you later on, but couldn't wait." I grinned, and gave him a kiss, then led him to my room.
Of course, we didn't do anything, but we did make out for awhile, then I passed out, out of breath, in his arms.
